Today, we can see a great increase in the population of India. The vehicles, trash, and overcrowded areas have proved to be an addition...

As, we are Earthlings, we would like to live in an environment wherein the earth also remains happy, not only us...

So, on April 22nd , that is Earth day, we would like to urge everybody to help Banglore by cleaning their surrounding road, stop throwing those plastic bags and  teach people who try to throw things around. Your hand is one more to help.............

What's going on ???

What are we upto?

We are making a play to spread awareness. It is going to be held on earth day(22nd April). Here is the story

There is Brooke who started fading magically on her 15th birthday as pollution grew. It is nearly a month later wher our story starts. Kaelin, Kelesy,Andrea and Lindsay are at a party. They find a guy throwing trash out of the window and yell at him. Only then do they realise that Brooke could be in much more danger than they thought. So, they go out looking for her in the forest. They find a super dirty river flowing through it. Kaelin discovers that the water is extremely clean after a certain distance and speculates that Brooke went there. The next morning they follow the river and.......

Daily Dump

Hello!! We have taken an extremely long break. For winter I guess...
Anyway, many of us have bought things from a store called Daily Dump. We were amazed by its ways.

What Does It Do??

Daily Dump deals with your waste!! No...it doesn't clean it up. The store sells earthen pots( we will give you some pictures). The whole concept is that these pots will deal with your biodegradable waste by composting...which you have to do by yourself. They give you a kit. It usually consists of a four or three tier set. These sets come with microbes. The microbes aid the process of composting...

For any more information or if you want your set go to:
http://www.dailydump.org/

These would be the the composting pots. You start but your waste in the first one. On he first day, you put your waste the bin. Cover it with newspaper and your job is done. As days go by that one pot will start getting full. So you move that to the bottom and the second one is ready for filling. You keep on with this process of moving it up and down. It is built in such a way that by the time you reach the first one again, it is completely decomposed.

Three tier ones... four tires would be with four of them.

This would be their concept...

We would like to acknowledge daily dump as a part of Club Earthlings!!

Best Out of Waste - Dustbin making

So,
Our second activity was more of a experiment.
We had 3 groups and we all made dustbins to hang on trees. 1 group quit out cause there was no coordination. Well the rest of us thoughtfully made it. We divided it and separated the waste. Though we didn't exactly put it out yet (ya we will post that later). The dustbins we made were quite creative. No new bought materials were used.
This was group 1's dustbins. Ya they tried to make it all colorful so you would not end up walking past it.

Ya that was their interior. Ya I guess we ended up using it.

Group 2 they used all kinds of containers for this one cardboard box. Look at the divisions

Now it's your turn-
Send your entries or dustbins to

Paper making

Hey,
We are ready for presenting our first activity.
That is we shall be making paper out of newspaper.
So what do we need?
  • Old news paper (we will need lots and lots, but c'mon )
  • Water in a bucket only halfway full
  • Man Power
  • Paint if you want colorful paper (paint which you cant use anymore not useful things, we are about saving the environment so please stick to that.)
  • mug
  • bucket
Note to self: Start project a bit before you need it cause it ill take at least three days to make. I'm telling you last minute projects are not gonna work.

Now we have things, so??
  1. Shred, (no, not with your paper shredder...what do you think I typed MAN POWER for) the paper into small pieces.
  2. For colorful paper throw in the paint.
  3. Keep that in the bucket for at least two - four hours.
  4. After that time (Keep it till that time gets over...no shortcuts). We need another bucket we needd to strain it. That  is with a muslin cloth. Place the muslin cloth over the bucket tight
  5. Pour a mug of the paper water paint....whatever mix on the cloth. Now, just press it lightly til most of the water has fallen in the bucket.
  6. Now squeeze it. Wrap the cloth around that amount of paper and squeeze it.
  7. Repeat till all the paper is strained.
  8. Then pour a bit of that water back in just enough to make the strained paper wet that is only mushy no more otherwise you will have to strain it AGAIN.
  9. Now beat or churn the pulp for a half hour. (MANPOWER)
  10. Leave it for a night
  11. Next afternoon, pat it quite thin do this on a news paper or you can revisit steps 1-9.
  12. Pat it as this as regular paper and leave to dry for about 1 or 2 days.
  13. BOOM paper
Here we have some pictures  from our routine...
,Here we have some paper drying on newspaper

Her dried and cut ready to be used paper
